Adam Hogue
West Hyannisport resident. Twenty-year veteran. Member of the Barnstable Republican Town Committee. On every Barnstable ballot on Tuesday, November 3.
Why This Race Matters in Barnstable
Barnstable County is run by a board of three Regional Commissioners. One seat is on the ballot this year, and every voter in all fifteen Cape towns votes on it. The Town of Barnstable is the largest of the fifteen. It carries 21.36 percent of the weighted vote in the county’s Assembly of Delegates, more than any other town.
The commissioners hold the county’s executive power. In the words of the county charter: “The executive powers of the Cape Cod regional government shall be vested solely in the board of regional commissioners”.
In His Own Words
“I oppose a county-wide property tax and increasing the real estate transfer tax because those proposals would make it even more expensive to own, buy, or sell a home.”
County Budget
“Today, there is a lack of accountability over how county funds are allocated and measured”. He says he will “advocate for performance-based budgeting that measures results, eliminates waste”.
Housing
He wants to “encourage attainable workforce housing, modernize local zoning where appropriate, and remove unnecessary barriers to responsible development”.
Village Centers
He says he will “champion an economic development incentive plan that encourages investment in our village centers and downtowns”.
Public Safety
“residents are increasingly concerned about rising crime and homelessness, and I share those concerns”.
