Who represents Barnstable, and how to reach them

Barnstable is represented at four levels of government: Congress, the State House, the county and the Town Council. The town is split between two State Representative districts, so the first thing to know is your precinct. Look up your precinct and polling place by address.

Barnstable County

The county is run by a three-member Board of Regional Commissioners and an Assembly of Delegates with one delegate from each of the fifteen Cape towns. One commissioner seat is on the ballot November 3, and a member of this committee is running for it: Adam Hogue of West Hyannisport. Meet Adam Hogue. County meetings and contacts are at capecod.gov.

Town Council

Barnstable has no town meeting. A thirteen-member Town Council, one councilor from each precinct, is the town’s legislature. Council seats are nonpartisan. This is the Council as the Town listed it on October 4, 2026, with each precinct’s polling place.

Three of thirteen seats are empty. Precincts 1 and 13 vote on Tuesday, October 13. Precinct 5 votes on Tuesday, December 22. If you live in one of them, your vote fills a seat on the body that decides Main Street, the sewer plan and the budget. See the local issues.
